The Aboriginal Healing and Wellness Strategy promotes a culturally appropriate approach to healing and wellness. It is unique in Canada, and has become a source of innovative expertise in Aboriginal healing and health services across North America. AHWS provides a comprehensive approach to reducing family violence and improving the health of Aboriginal individuals, families and communities. This interministerial initiative is jointly managed by the ministries of Community and Social Services, Health, the Ontario Native Affairs Secretariat, the Ontario Women's Directorate and 15 Aboriginal organizations and First Nations. The Ministry of Community and Social Services is the lead ministry.

The Eating Disorders
Association of London operates a confidential telephone
service and maintains a current database of therapists, support
groups and other agencies providing services to people with eating
disorders in the London area. The Association is also involved in
public education and promotes research into the cause, prevention
and treatment of eating disorders.

Located in Guelph, the Homewood
Health Centre offers the largest in-patient Eating Disorders
Program in Canada. The program serves women and men aged 16 and
older who are struggling with anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa.
To be admitted to the program, patients must be referred by a medical
doctor.

Sheena's Place offers
support groups, workshops, outreach and education to people with
eating disorders and their families. No referral is necessary and
all programs are free to participants. All services are kept strictly confidential.

Distress Centres are non-profit agencies offering free, non-judgmental, and confidential telephone support to any person experiencing distress, crisis or isolation.
