Domestic Violence Employment Training Program - Invitation for Proposals

The Ontario Women's Directorate is accepting proposals for the Domestic Violence Employment Training Program for two-year grants (April 1, 2009 to March 31, 2011) to help women who have experienced abuse or are at risk of abuse to develop new skills, find employment, and achieve economic security.

The Ontario government introduced this program in 2006 as part of its commitments under the Domestic Violence Action Plan to provide better community supports for victims of domestic violence.  Ten pilot projects were funded across the province (August 2006 to March 2008) and best practices based on lessons learned were developed and are part of the terms of reference for this proposal call.

Each proposal must consist of a three-way partnership between a women’s organization that provides violence against women prevention and support services, a training organization (community-based, college or university) and a minimum of two employers.  Applicants are also to submit a memorandum of agreement (template provided) from their local Ontario Works and Job Connect to establish a reciprocal referral process.

This program targets 70% of graduates province-wide to find employment or pursue further training and education within six months of program completion.

How to apply: Funds under this program are currently fully committed.

Grant recipients:  Grant Recipients: Here you will find information on current grant recipients under this program. Please contact the organization directly for more information on its program.
