Professional Communication for Access to Employment

The ”Professional Communication for Access to Employment” project is a graduated program that enables an individual from any profession to enter an appropriate level of language and communications training. The project will develop, design and deliver a modular program that will provide language training in professional reading and writing, as well as technical writing. The language training program will include profession-driven assignments, simulations and class presentations, all leading to a formal document acknowledging successful graduation. Structured one-on-one mentoring and coaching will also be provided with emphasis on Canadian culture.

Managing Cultural Differences

The project is developing a “Managing Cultural Differences” module to help regulatory bodies better understand and appreciate the cultural diversity of internationally trained applicants. The module will be designed for delivery within or across regulatory organizations and will target both staff and governors (council and committee members).  The module will focus on identifying perceptions held towards internationally trained individuals, especially in terms of language and culture, and address these perceptions in order to create a more tolerant regulatory environment.  The module will be delivered in person to groups of between twenty and forty and will include tools allowing for continual evaluation and modification.
