Connections Ottawa: A Mentorship Program for Internationally Trained Professionals

Connections Ottawa: A Mentorship Program for Internationally Trained Professionals” helps internationally educated professional and skilled tradespeople by providing first hand Canadian work experience through a mentorship component, as well as English language supports and course credits designed to facilitate smooth transition to the Ontario workplace.

Algonquin also offers “Algonguin Connection Expertise of the Internationally Trained” (ACE-IT), which prepares students for both non-regulated and regulated employment. Participants are provided with a multi-faceted educational program that assesses, recognizes and builds on their prior knowledge and skills. This is done using Algonquin's leading-edge Health Sciences Simulated Laboratory facilities, specifically developed Prior Leaning Assessment Recognition (PLAR) tools, and an English-language assessment. Students are provided with cultural awareness training, study skills, insight into the Canadian Health System and preparation for employment success. Students in areas of regulated employment will be prepared to successfully challenge or write the exams of the regulatory bodies.
