The McGuinty government is attracting investors and helping businesses grow and compete by making it easier for them to get highly skilled employees.

Opportunities Ontario: Provincial Nominee Program will give the province the ability to fast-track a limited number of skilled workers through the federal immigration system. The program will:

• Enable business to succeed by quickly filling vacancies for professional, managerial and skilled trades positions.
• Attract investment by facilitating the immigration application process for key employees of investors who commit to creating jobs for Ontarians.
• Give employers the option of permanently hiring international students who have the skills and knowledge they need.

The program, which will target approximately 1,000 nominees, is an update to the first-ever Ontario pilot provincial nominee program launched in May, 2007.

• All provinces and the territory of Yukon, have a provincial nominee program. Quebec selects all of its immigrants.
