The Canada-Ontario Immigration Agreement (COIA) is the framework for Ontario’s relationship with the Government of Canada on immigration.
The first COIA, signed in 2005, expired in March, 2010. An extension agreement to allow for negotiation of a new Agreement expires in March, 2011.
Immigration is Ontario’s lifeblood. We cherish the contributions newcomers make to our communities and to our economy. We are proud that Ontario is chosen by almost half of all immigrants to Canada every year. And we want that to continue.
Find out about the COIA and why it is important – to our government, our citizens and our newcomers.
