What is the Ontario Senior of the Year Award?


The Ontario Senior of the Year Award gives each municipality in Ontario the opportunity to honour one outstanding local senior.

Who can receive this award?

Recipients must be over 65 years old. Recipients of the Ontario Senior of the Year Award are people who have made their communities better places to live. Achievements in many fields would qualify, for example:

  • Arts/Literature
  • Community Service/Voluntarism
  • Education
  • Environment/Science
  • Fitness/Recreation/Sport
  • Humanitarian Activities
  • Keeping History Alive

Can I nominate someone?

Only municipalities can nominate seniors for this award. Information about nominations is provided each year to about 200 municipalities in Ontario.

When is the deadline?

Nomination forms may be submitted at any time. The deadline is April 30 of each year. All nominations received after this date will be considered for the following year.
