The Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship honours people who have made outstanding contributions to their communities over many years.

Recipients of The Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship demonstrate citizenship in action. They are recognized for outstanding achievement, and their lives serve as an example to all Ontarians. They are individuals who have made their communities better places to live.
Nominees for this award must live in Ontario. They may include federal, provincial or municipal representatives who have left public office. They must be living at the time of nomination.
First, individuals are nominated for this award by either individuals or organizations. Then, the Advisory Council considers all of the nominations and selects recipients. The Lieutenant Governor, is the Honourary Chair of the Advisory Council.
Each year, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario presents recipients with the Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship at a ceremony held in the Provincial Legislative Building at Queen’s Park.
Yes. Any individual or organization in Ontario can nominate someone for the Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship.
Nomination forms may be submitted at any time. The deadline is August 17 of each year. Nominations received after this date will be considered for the following year.
