Funding

Not-for-profit organizations can apply for a project grant of up to $10,000. The ministry funds up to 50% of eligible project costs. Matching contributions may be financial or in-kind.

How to apply for a grant

When the Ministry issues a call for proposals, it posts application materials. The application package includes detailed information about how to apply for funding, funding priorities, eligibility, and evaluation criteria.  Information about calls for proposals is also distributed by email. If you want your organization to be added to our current email list, please contact us at NSP@ontario.ca.

Eligibility

The program gives priority to initiatives that reduce barriers preventing newcomers and members of culturally-diverse communities from participating in society and contributing to their full potential. Projects must demonstrate that their proposals achieve maximum and sustainable benefits for communities and organizations. Initiatives must demonstrate clear support for one of the following:

  • Raising awareness of Ontario’s cultural diversity: Education and awareness raising initiatives that recognize and celebrate Ontario’s diverse cultural mosaic and bring together Ontarians of different cultures.
  • Enhancing community engagement: Projects that promote and celebrate engagement among newcomers and diverse communities.
