The Ontario Volunteer Partnership is a five-year initiative. The government created this initiative to help the nonprofit sector better manage its risks. The steering committee members that guide the Ontario Volunteer Partnership come from government, the nonprofit sector and the insurance industry.

Taking Risks the Safe Way: Risk Management and Insurance Practices of Ontario’s Voluntary Sector is a first time profile of Ontario’s nonprofit/voluntary sector. It includes provincial, national and international data on insurance and risk management practices and feedback from the 1,300 representatives of voluntary and non-profit organizations across the province who participated in the consultation process.
We commissioned this research report to help voluntary sector organizations build capacity for managing risk and support their work in encouraging volunteerism across the province. Published in 2009.
