Accountability for the Order of Ontario Advisory Council

The advisory agencies of the Ontario Honours and Awards Secretariat carry out their advisory functions by evaluating nominations and recommending the recipients of their respective medals independently of the minister and the Ministry.

The respective chairs are accountable to the minister for the performance of the agency in fulfilling its mandate as outlined in the agencies’ respective constituting Orders in Council.

The work of these agencies is supported by the Ontario Honours and Awards Secretariat of the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration.

The Order of Ontario Advisory Council is an advisory agency and is not required to have or post governance documents under the Agency and Appointments Directive.

Under the Agencies and Appointments Directive and the Travel, Meal and Hospitality Expenses Directive, provincial advisory agencies are required to post their expense information for designated individuals.
